The 1968 back after a short break with a wired stoic with a jacknife and 7 noses!!

You have probably noticed there has been a gap since the last newsletter was sent out. Unfortunately that end of year tax saga has been in full swing and any available time had been used up keeping the wolf from the door.

Anyway tax sorted and back at it, I have quite a few new ideas and events in mind that I will be sharing in the forthcoming editions.

Note: I have set up a whatsapp group for this newsletter so that we can arrange events and share news. If you would like to be part of the whatsapp group please follow this link

COOL LOCATION

Seven Noses of Soho

Several plaster noses are hidden around London's Soho .

In 1997 artist Rick Buckley started a project to highlight CCTV proliferation in London. The artist placed 35 casts of his own nose on public buildings across London. Many were taken down fairly quickly but a number remained. The artist didnt admit to installing them until 2011 more than enough time for legends of the origins of the noses to proliferate. If you’re interested in finding some of these noses, a quick Google search should get you started on the known, confirmed nose locations. There are also an unknown number of ears hidden on various buildings around Covent Garden. The ears have been installed by an unknown artist.

Coffee Time

Matcha lattes

Have you come across the vibrant green hues of matcha lattes?

While traditional latte is known for its espresso, steamed milk, and foam, a matcha latte offers a unique twist by combining green tea powder, water, and milk. Although it doesn't contain as much caffeine as its coffee counterpart, it has a reputation for delivering a cleaner caffeine boost.

While matcha itself has a rich history spanning over a millennium, matcha lattes have recently gained popularity. The beverage begins with matcha powder, finely ground from specific green tea leaves. The Barista blends this powder with water, creating a paste that is then combined with steamed milk.

What Makes Matcha Lattes So Popular?

Despite the absence of coffee, matcha lattes have become popular, primarily due to their perceived health benefits. In an era where health-consciousness is on the rise among coffee enthusiasts, green tea brings a different set of potential advantages.

  • Boast antioxidants

  • Offer a good source of fiber

  • Provide essential vitamins, including vitamin C

These qualities position matcha and its lattes as contributors to reducing bad cholesterol, safeguarding the liver, enhancing brain function, and offering various other health benefits.

Watches

Timex Weekender 38 mm Watch

Timex Weekender 38 its just a good looking watch for your EDC. Its not flash and at £36 its certainly not expensive. The dial is clean and easy to read and the lack of a date window makes this a true “grab & go” watch.

Polaroid Go Instant Camera

The Polaroid Go is a pocket-sized take on the iconic Polaroid silhouette. Measuring 105mm long, 84mm wide and 61mm tall, the Go is not only Polaroid’s smallest camera to date but the smallest analogue instant camera on the market. Despite its size, it still manages to pack in a well-rounded set of features, with a self-timer, toggleable flash and even a double exposure mode. The viewfinder also sports a nifty reflective coating, allowing it to act as a mirror while in front of the camera for framing selfies.

The Go shoots Polaroid Go film which, like the camera, is the smallest format Polaroid makes. Essentially a cutdown version of Polaroid’s i-Type film, the Go film produces the same white-bordered, retro-tinged results as its larger siblings but in a smaller format – and at a lower price.
