COOL LOCATION

St Alphege London Wall

St Alphage London Wall was a church in the City of London, which was built directly upon the London Wall.

The picture below also shows a section of the raised London Pedway.

EDC - The Gerber Paraframe

The Gerber Paraframe is currently my everyday toolbox knife, unfortunately, because it is a locking blade it’s not legal to carry in the UK. The open frame on the Paraframe makes it very light and easy to clean.

Gerber Paraframe

The blade on this Gerber Paraframe is made from high-carbon stainless steel. With a clip-point shaped blade. The blade is relatively short with a length of 7.5 cm.

The knife can be opened with one hand with the thumb studs on the blade. When opened the knife is locked by a framelock. This knife is extremely tactile and if you are a fan of fidget gadgets you will find yourself opening and closing this blade over and over.

The price also makes this an attractive EDC blade, currently available on Amazon for £18.93

I’m reading

The Anti Blueprint Project

The anti blue print project

Personally, I love this book and it’s the perfect book for those that want to take the road less travelled. Filled with uplifting and inspirational stories of those that have taken their own route in life, as the title suggests the standard blueprint for life is not for everyone.

“The way teachers, parents, and careers advisors ask these questions you’d think there is a simple route to navigate the world. I suppose there is an ordinary route. Go to school, study hard, go to the best university you can, get in debt, get a job, work to pay off that debt and then make your way in the world. However, that route is just that – ordinary. I mean who wants to be ordinary? “

The book is currently out of print but there are a few copies available online one such shop is here or keep an eye on the website for updates (might be worth contacting them if they get enough interest they may reprint)

I have contacted the author Jonathan Weaver and there are a few copies left for sale in Europe if you would like one let me know or contact Jonathon at [email protected]

This book really needs to be back in publication again, as it’s a road map for following your passion in life.

If I had children it’s definitely a book I would get them to read!

I’m watching

Twenty Seconds of Joy

Available on Red Bull TV and well worth a watch

Filmmaker Jens Hoffmann profiles extreme athlete Karina Hollekim as she pursues her passion for the dangerous sport of BASE-jumping. The film traces the story of one person's incredible journey.

Beer of the week is actually a Cider

GALIPETTE BRUT

Galipette Cider

This is a dry to medium-dry cider with a perfectly balanced taste, I would even say this is probably the best cider I have ever had.

The apples used in the production of this wonderful cider, Marie Ménard, Kermerrien and Judor, come from traditional apple orchards near the river Rance in northern Brittany’s Côtes-d’Armor.

Pact is one of the UK’s largest independent coffee roasters and it’s a delivery service I have been using for quite a while.

Having partnered with over 150 farmers from around the globe their dream is to transform the coffee industry.

It takes the average farmer three years to produce speciality coffee. But, 70% of farmers worldwide are living below the poverty line. The current system often leaves farmers with very little to show for their hard work. Pact are taking action through direct trade, paying great prices for great coffee, long-term relationships, and sustainable farming practices.

If you are a coffee lover help the cause by ordering your beans, ground coffee, or pods (recyclable) from Pact.

Health & Fitness

Caffeine and enhanced longevity? But not just from Coffee!

“Caffeine is thought to be inversely correlated with a lower risk of certain chronic diseases—namely, neurological diseases like Alzheimer's Disease—as well as other conditions like asthma, liver disease, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and liver, endometrial, and prostate cancers,”

Maddie Pasquariello, MS, RDN, a dietitian based in Brooklyn.

In Okinawa, Japan, the tradition of sipping green tea throughout the day is deeply ingrained and contributes significantly to their overall well-being. Research by Pasquariello indicates that consuming green tea is associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, certain cancers, and other ailments. The polyphenols present in green tea, including flavanols and flavonols, are believed to be responsible for these benefits. Acting as antioxidants, they combat free radicals and safeguard against cellular damage, thereby preventing the onset of various diseases. Among these polyphenols, catechins stand out as a particularly potent flavanol, offering a wide range of health advantages. These include fortifying the immune system and promoting a balanced gut microbiome. Renowned functional medicine expert, Dr. Mark Hyman, also recognizes green tea as the ultimate longevity elixir, emphasizing that catechins are among the most formidable disease-fighting compounds found in the plant kingdom.

Adding green tea to your daily caffeine fix could be a good move and if you are not keen on the taste try Clipper Green Tea with lemon.
