COOL LOCATION

St Dunstan in the East

The Church of St Dunstan was originally built around 1100 and is a Grade I listed building. It was severely damaged in 1666 by the Great Fire of London.

The Church was also severely damaged in the Blitz of 1941. Wren's tower and steeple survived the bombing. During the re-organisation of the Anglican Church after World war II it was decided not to rebuild St Dunstan’s. In 1967 the City of London decided to turn the remains into a public garden, which opened in 1970.

Beer of the week

 Kona Brewery Big Wave

This golden ale from Hawaii will have your taste buds tingling. It has a soft fruit aroma that is reminiscent of pineapple and passion fruit, and the taste is fresh with very little dryness and a lot of papaya and pineapple without ever becoming sweet. It’s very, very drinkable.

Coffee Time

Make the perfect instant coffee:

1. For most coffees, the ideal is 1-2 teaspoons per 8 ounces of water.

2. Instant coffee granules contain amylum, a complex carbohydrate that hardens to create a powdery, chalky taste and consistency. Add a little cold water to the granules before you add the rest. Only add enough to wet all of the coffee to soften the amylum and turn it into a paste. This helps give your instant coffee a smoother flavor.

3. Add your hot water and milk. You may need to adjust this a little according to your taste. Personally I add a dash of cold milk to the paste before the hot water.

Enjoy.
